Keynote 3: Ashley Jacobs

Ashley Jacobs is a Systems Engineer for Cisco Systems based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He joined the company in 2007 and has fulfilled several engineering roles, working with customers and Cisco partners. He is part of the Internet of Things Engineering team in South Africa.

Ashley holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and several Industry certifications. He has been in the IT industry for the past 13 years.

 

Topic: IoT solutions for todays challenges

DC predicts that the worldwide installed base of Internet of Things (IoT) endpoints will grow from 14.9 billion at the end of 2016 to more than 82 billion in 2025*. At this rate, the Internet of Things may soon be as indispensable as the Internet itself. However, the advent of the internet of Things offers us both benefits as well as risks. As both consumers and industry look at how they can take advantage of the IoT, this presentation will look at how the IoT opens up new possibilities to address challenges that the world faces today.
